BFS urea-based solutions boost protein in wheat – and the chances of achieving premium prices.

BFS ProfiPlus* is a complex, foliar-applied fertiliser that aids milling quality by boosting wheat protein levels. It is formulated from a selection of urea-based products that ensure both rapid uptake and slower release of nitrogen, making the product more efficient than straight urea-based solutions. It contains sulphur, magnesium and seaweed extract.

BFS Profol (18N) is a urea solution and, as a foliar application, it has a rapid uptake, even in dry weather.

In years when the premium for achieving milling quality wheat is high, ProfiPlus and Profol can have a significant impact on farm income.

How to apply ProfiPlus and Profol

When applying ProfiPlus and Profol, we suggest using a medium or coarse jet - BFS Air Bubble Jets are ideal for accurate, even coverage. This will guarantee maximum leaf retention and absorption, and eliminate drift, while reducing machine contamination. High yielding varieties may need to be applied at a higher rate - see chart.

Add water to ProfiPlus. Spray both products directly on to the ear. Apply at growth stages 69-75 in the crop's development – the milky-cheesy ripe period. Apply in cool, calm, cloudy conditions, i.e. avoiding bright sunlight, and hot, windy days. Early morning or evening treatment achieves best results.
